It’s an age-old adage that sex sells; one that continues in the fashion world as well. Sex as a mass-marketing strategy is more popular than ever in the mainstream media, causing both established and cutting-edge designers to shy away from using sex to sell their collections. Such is the theme behind >Sex Sells<, an exhibition composed of outfits and 3D presentations exploring the relationship between sex and clothing. The exhibition was born out of a study done by 14 academics who explored the topic of baring it all versus being suggestive in the fashion world, under the lead of Prof. Stephan Schneider, Prof. Valeska Schmidt-Thomsen and Dipl-Des Jana Patz. The exhibition will run until May 31, 2008 and will take place at >designtransfer< in the >Universität der Künste< in Berlin-Charlottenburg.
