RALPH MECKE
14 July 2008

Berlin-born photographer >Ralph Mecke< originally won his fame by shooting portraits of famous intellectuals and cultural icons, and branched into international personalities such as Giorgio Armani and Kiera Knightly.  He quickly branched into fashion photography, which became his passion, and had his work featured in magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Vogue and GQ. His work has been described as beautiful with an air of darkness and mystery. In an exhibition in >Camera Work< on Kanstrasse 149, Mecke (who now splits his time between Paris and New York) will present portraits, fashion photography and still-lives taken in the period of 1995-2007 to the city of his birth. The exhibition runs until July 26.
