>Celeste Prize< is an international contemporary arts prize and a progressive online network for arts professionals on the rise. The goal is to implement online network offers and to create new working environments that enrich and challenge artists’ lives while giving precedence to their visions and views. The two associations that organized Celeste Prize were founded by Steven Music, who has introduced many artist-led prizes in Europe within the last 5 years. The distinguishing fact of Celeste Prize is that the artists themselves get to decide who wins the prize money (a grand total of 40,000 €) in the five categories. The focus will be on painting, photography & digital graphics, installations & sculpture, video & animation as well as live media. The 46 finalists are chosen by a panel of international art critics namely Mark Gisbourne, Adrienne Goehler and Victoria Lu, while live media artists are selected by Claudio Sinatti and a panel of consultants with specific experience in audiovisual performance.This year’s final exhibition and awards ceremony in Berlin are scheduled for the end of September at the old AEG factory in Voltastrasse 5.
