The "Wassermusik Open Air Festival" offers more than just fascinating entertainment and insight into music and history. This year's visitors of all ages are to discover the music and culture of the Caribbean and to learn the intriguing past of the accordion. Both themes of Wassermusik share the remarkable attribute of being the pallet for cultural high-life at sea. The Caribbean on its part is famous for its enticing music and rhythm that influences different styles like Reggae and Calypso. Did you ever wonder how the distinctive sound made its way across the Atlantic Ocean to Europe? That's where the accordion comes in. The accordion is a symbol for the transfer of ideas through music, for it travelled to the farthest corners of the world ever since its creation in 1820. Several concerts were organized to pay homage to its unique sound and ability to bridge the music of far distant cultures. The festival takes place on the compound of the >Haus der Kulturen der Welt< and runs from July 9th to 25th.
