For the first time, modern and trendy South African fashion creations are being displayed to the international community. The inspiring works of the eight participants and winners from this years "Mercedes-Benz South African Award for Fashion Design", are presented in the >Daimler Contemporary< until August 30th. The Huth house's viewing hours are from 11 until 6 o'clock and the admission is free. For the duration of the exhibition the works of award winners Jacques von der Watt and Daniça Lepen, with their outstanding label >Black Coffee<, will be at the center of attention. Their entire Summer/Spring collection for 2010 will be displayed presented in the Daimler Contemporary until August 30th. The exhibition includes pieces of many other designers who share a common ground with von der Watt and Lepen. What connects them is that they aptly combine elements of haute couture and indigenous tradition in different styles, like athletic ware or leisure attire. Even recycled material was incorporated, for instance by the young Themba Mngomezulu and his prominent "Darkie" label, who designe streetware that is both luxurious and sportive.
