The former heating power plant in mid-Berlin (Köpenicker Strasse) has gained exceptional flair. Ever since Vivienne Newport reinvented its interior with a new project called “fragments of a time still passing” – opening on September 3rd at 8.30 pm– the industrial sight has been turned into a modernized theatre haven. Inspiring photography of actors and dancers performing dance sequences and scenes captures the new energy of place. Newport juxtaposes the buildings history of 1961 and takes the viewer on a journey that presents him familiar and unprecedented images. Newport herself has been successful as a dancer and choreography, creating 33 dance theatre pieces and choreographies in Frankfurt, Paris, London, Hong Kong and Sydney. It is her experience and insight that give “fragments of a time still passing” such depth and enables viewers to connect emotionally with the photographs.
